eHEALTH - PRACTICE INCENTIVE PROGRAM (PIP)

From August 2009 a payment of $6.50 per Standardised Whole Patient Equivalent (SWPE) per annum will be available to PIP registered practices that meet the requirements. Payments are capped at $12,500 per quarter. Payments through this incentive will be made retrospectively, so that the first payment in August 2009 will be made to those practices that have met the requirements by 30 April 2009 and maintained their eligibility through out May, June and July.

An outline of requirements is listed below for Practices who wish to begin the eligibility process: 

 1.  Practices must have a secure messaging capability

2. PKI Certificates for the Practice and each Practitioner
 

If your practice is not using this technology please print and complete the following forms and fax to ensure your eligibility.

  •  Medicare Australia Registered Communities of Interest Site Certificate Application
•  Medicare Australia Registered Provider Individual Certificate  Application
 

The Sunshine Coast Division of General Practice can assist with the installation of secure certificates and training of secure messaging tools.  Please contact Melissa or Ian on 5456 8888 once you have received your installation disks for location and individual certificates, i-key/ smartcard and passwords.

3. Access to Key Electronic Clinical Resources
 

All GPs in the practice must have electronic access (online saved to favorites or on CD ROM) to the resources. All GPs must be competent in the use of these electronic resources. If you require assistance in adding the links below to your internet favorites or require training for GPs please contact Melissa or Ian on 5456 8888.

  •  RACGP Red Book
  •  ETG Complete on CD 
  or any other evidence based guide to patient management that covers all common disorders e.g:
  •  The Cochrane Library
