Sample Action Plan to Achieve Performance Targets  

Area	Using targets and budgets to control practice expenses
Objectives and Goals	To use budgets and target setting to reduce consumable expenses.
Plans/ Action Required	Meet with ordering staff and analyse current order and discuss where there is wastage, overlap, cheaper alternatives, etc Develop budget targets Develop plans to cut expenses Develop plans to order more accurately
Time Frame	This week, ask Reception/Nursing staff to provide ordering audits and in non-contact time interpret data Next week meet with Reception/Nursing staff responsible for stock-take and ordering. Spend time setting realistic targets and discuss ways to avoid wastage, use less expensive brands or ordering in bulk to save on expenses By the end of this month, from staff ideas and input develop specific plans to achieve targets being implemented. Meet in one month, and amend current budget to reflect new ordering trends and add any new plans to achieve targets
Review	Quarterly checks of progress after monthly orders are complete, if indication target will not be met, re-evaluation and additional planning is required
Resources	Pracsoft reports Knowledge of developing control reports, budgets, setting targets and planning for goals Nursing/ Reception/ PM Staff meetings to share targets and develop plans for cutting unnecessary costs
