ROLE OF THE RECEPTIONIST

The roles of Practice Receptionists vary from practice to practice. General Practice Receptionists are required to have additional skills to their administrative counterparts. Practice Receptionists have a high level of responsibility and must be skilled in Triaging patients and in recognising serious situations that may appear normal to the untrained eye.

Practice Receptionists play many varied roles within their practice. Some Receptionists take on a more senior management role in the absence of a Practice Manager. Tasks may range from taking calls, making appointments and billing patients to general administration and book keeping tasks.
